These are fixed-spool reels and the most common type of reel used, because it is one of the easiest ways to learn casting.
The spinning reel has a fixed spool with a housing that fits around it and rotates when the handle is turned. A pickup ball attached to the other housing evenly distributes the line when the handle is turned. There are gears in the housing that move the line up and down on the spool so the line is neatly spooled.
There is no backlash with this kind of reel, since it is fixed.
